Recovery 4 Life started Idaho’s first women’s trauma program in 2015 because of the pattern we found in female clients with multiple treatment episodes. We came to discover that the addiction was only the symptom of a past trauma that had never been treated.
At Recovery 4 Life, we understand that women who have struggled to cope with past trauma may turn to drugs or alcohol in an effort to ease suffering, however substances only serve to mask the underlying issues.
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that’s triggered by a terrifying event — either experiencing it or witnessing it. Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares, high startle response, severe anxiety, as well as uncontrollable thoughts about the event.
Anyone can develop PTSD at any age including women who have been through a physical or sexual assault, abuse, accident, disaster, or many other serious events.
We believe addiction is a symptom of the past trauma you’ve experienced and work to address the underlying root cause of the issue. Recovery 4 Life provides women only groups that focus on PTSD and addiction specifically addressing the unique needs of women seeking recovery. Groups focus on relationships, motherhood, sexuality, communication and addiction. Each group offers a supportive, empowering experience that will help increase and strengthen your self-esteem and overcome addiction to find ultimate healing.
